We commend the city of Sarasota for taking steps finally to allow residents access to the city commissioners' email correspondence. As longtime readers of the county commissioners' email, we know only too well what insights can be gleaned from the exchanges.
Back in the early 1800s, if you felt depressed or listless, you traveled in medicinal search of the perfect beach. For the British, sand, sun and ocean waters were frequently seen as miraculous cures for illness - imaginary or otherwise.
